This artwork Balance is made in collaboration with Artifort, to complement their presentation at the Salone del Mobile 2024 in Milan. It is part of a collection of five pieces.

I have always loved drawing, especially since I studied architecture and urban design. In particular, the mindless hatching, creating depth and layers by drawing layer over layer. I tried to create this same effect with my sewing machine. The effect of the randomness of the pattern that adds texture and depth to the textile is in beautiful subtle contrast with the strong lines of the artwork.

Balance is is made of high end residual upholstery fabric from the furniture industry, in this case from Artifort, with added stitches. Fabric from brands like Kvadrat and De Ploeg are used for this piece. Because the stitching is embroidered by hand, every piece is unique. Off-white and black.
Size: 30 x 30 cm, Framed in a natural wooden frame.
